Nora Ezell is one of the many African American folk artists whose works Robert and Helen Cargo collected. Ezell learned how to sew at home and used her skills throughout her life. She began quilting with her daughter in the early 1980s. Although much of her work is in the narrative style, her Cathedral Windows is representative of her traditional pieced quilts. Ezell won an NEA Heritage Fellowship in 1992.
