Journey to Japan featured the work of 10 artists who have been influential makers and teachers in Japan for the past several decades. Many of them saw the Holstein/van der Hoof quilts when they traveled to Tokyo and Kyoto in 1975-1976 and were influenced by the sudden, strong presence of American-style quilts in Japan starting in the 1970s.
