Like the Schoolhouse quilt in the previous slide, Irish Chain patterns—whether Single, Double, or Triple—often have a limited number of colors, one of which is usually white. The orangey-brown background in this version is a radical departure from white, and the red, green, and blue chains add to the overall richness of the color palette. The square shape and the wide, dark border both hint at the quilt's Pennsylvania origins.
