Mumbai native, textile artist, and avocational quilt researcher, Geeta Khandelwal has spent decades making and studying quilts. In the 1970s, she learned quiltmaking from an American acquaintance and eventually started her own business employing and teaching local women to create handmade quilts for the Western market. Even while running her business, however, Khandelwal always found time to make her own quilts. In this quilt, she utilized a Crazy-style format of irregularly shaped fabrics overlaid with decorative and figurative embroidery, all of which combine to create "a pictorial account of village life, teeming with everyday details."
