Amy Smart’s “Virtual Quilting Bee” is about bringing together quiltmakers despite geographical separations. It is much different than a traditional quilting bee and demonstrates the more current interpretation.  Quiltmakers do not work on one quilt together, they individually make quilts using the same pattern. Although the bee promotes community-building and productivity, the focus is social and educational rather than about cooperative working. Image courtesy of Amy Smart, Diary of a Quilter
