Genealogy and memory quilts have a long history in quiltmaking. Digital technology has made new versions of this theme possible.  This quilt combines the concept of the photo album with a pictorial representation of a family home. Quiltmakers can easily scan old photographs and print images onto printable fabrics, as Boram did here using the technique called “photo transfer,” one of the ways in which digital technologies have influenced quiltmaking.

This quilt has a close connection to IQSCM, as it depicts the extended family and community of quilt collector and philanthropist Robert James.
