Many fabrics and block designs repeat among the surviving Baltimore Album quilts, leading scholars to believe that a certain amount of centralized design and production supported their creation. For instance, the eagle block in this quilt is similar to that on many other Baltimore Albums: they are all accompanied by shield and flag motifs and are constructed using ombre fabrics, those that feature linear gradations of color.
